Actress Sondra Locke Dies
Sophia Bowman (CelebrityAccess) Sondra Locke, 74, the longtime onscreen love interest in Clint Eastwood vehicles and also his real-life love interest, then disinterest, reportedly died of complications from breast and bone cancer Nov. 3.
Locke’s death was first recently by Radar Online although it has been more than a month since her passing. She began her film career with an Oscar nomination for 1968’s “The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter.” That screen debut also garnered her two Golden Globe nominations, one for most promising newcomer.
Locke’s popularity rose with her many appearances alongside Eastwood in the 1970s. He cast her in his 1976 Western “The Outlaw Josie Wales” and she co-starred in Eastwood-directed movies “The Gauntlet,” “Bronco Billy” and “Sudden Impact” plus the popular movies “Every Which Way But Loose” and “Any Which Way You Can.”
Locke then became a fixture of Hollywood news when she and Eastwood had a romantic breakup that lasted more than a dozen years, culminating in a palimony suit in 1989, followed by a later lawsuit involving a development and director deal. She moved on to direct films with varying success, including 1986’s “Ratboy,” which won her that year’s Worst Actress Razzie.
